Default Guild Wars Prophecies - Differences between Special & Collector's?

Okay, I'm a newcomer to the world of Guild Wars (just started with factions this week). I am now trying to get the original, but I have discovered there are 3 editions (Standard, Special & Collector's). I was assuming that the Collector's Edition was the way to go, but on the cover of the Special Edition it states that it has Art Book 2! It also mentions exclusive upgrades etc. So does that mean I have to get two copies of the game to get all the artwork and extras? If so, that really blows... Unless someone wanted to buy just the discs and activation key off me for the Special Edition, but who would wanna do that...

Anyways, does anyone have/seen either or both of these editions to tell me if the Special Edition has anything the Collector's Edition doesn't?

Thanks in advance guys =o)

The special edition has a code that will allow you to unlock a few skills and items for pvp purposes (must make a pvp character to use them)

So basically both editions have unique contents... That sucks...

Thats sounds very very un-fan friendly to me, nice one ArenaNet...

Thanks alot for that info It's unfortunate that it is like that. I suppose they'll be releasing a SE of Factions in a few months to severly shaft those of us who already bought either the CE or Standard...

Oh well...

Honestly, the PvP content unlock stuff would only be helpful once, and isn't really all that hard to get if you just play a little PvP anyway. Honestly, the only things I'm seeing that SE has over CE is the Map and the different Art Book. CE is seems to be better in the long run, IMO.

I don't think you'd be missing too much if you just got a Standard version of Prophecies. You probably won't use the extras very much. The Divine Aura is not very good, it just makes some sparks float over your hands will you do an emote like dancing. They don't appear during the course of normal gameplay though. Nothing to get excited about.

Teamspeak is free to download and use, so including it as an "extra" is pretty much useless.

None of the other in-game stuff you get as an "extra" has any point. You will get all that stuff during the normal course of gameplay anyhow, with the Standard version.

The art and soundtrack are nice, but do you really wanna pay a lot of extra money just for those?

Add to this the Guild Wars '06 Edition which is meant to be appearing soon and the waters are muddied somewhat further.
It's meant to have access to special weapons (the CokePlay items I believe, which have only been available in Asian terratories to far) with rather nice unique skins.
